Students will be graded on their work habits and cooperation.

Work habits will be assessed on how students complete their assigned iReady time during homeroom.

Cooperation will be assessed on how students behave during homeroom.


Class Description

The purpose of homeroom is to listen to the morning announcements and facilitate any required state/district/school testing.

Breakfast will be provided in homeroom only on Minimum Days, including Tuesdays.

Conduct

In addition to LAUSD’s and Palms Middle School’s Code of Conduct, students must follow classroom expectations.

Students are expected to be F.O.C.U.S.E.D.

Consequences

If a student does not meet classroom behavior expectations, the following progressive consequences will be implemented.

This sequence resets daily, but repeated behaviors over time may impact the student’s citizenship grade.

  1. Verbal Warning – A reminder of expected behavior.
  2. Sideline & Reflection Form – Student is temporarily removed from the activity to reflect.
  3. Detention and/or Office Referral – For continued disruption or serious misconduct.
  4. Conference with Administration and Parent/Guardian
  5. Suspension

Note: Severe or disruptive behavior may result in immediate escalation, bypassing earlier steps in the process.

Communication

All communication should be professional and conducted via email when not in person.

Students are expected to monitor their grades and communicate their progress with their families. Families should use Schoology to monitor student grades.

Schoology is our digital platform for posting grades, assignments, materials, and class updates. It is the official tool for tracking academic progress.
