Assessments: 45% Includes quizzes, assessments, and projects.
Class Work: 45% Includes daily assignments and in-class activities. The lowest 3 scores will be dropped each semester.
Participation: 10% Includes class participation, group work, and engagement in discussions. The lowest 3 scores will be dropped each semester.
Grading will be a combination of mastery grading and traditional grading. Traditional grading will be used for the overall scores for assignments and participation. Mastery grading will be used to score state standards and will be in the mastery section of Schoology.
For example: A science standard is 6.MS.PS.3-5 (Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object). If a student answered 3 out of 4 questions correct from this standard on an assessment, the student would receive a 3 (75%) in the mastery section in Schoology. The next time this standard is assessed, the new grade will be added to the gradebook.
The Next Generation Science Standards for Grade 6 can be found here.

I. Integrity: Students will be honest, trustworthy, and responsible even when no one is looking.
S. Safety: Students will be safe and not cause harm to anyone or anything.
E. Effort: Students will try their best to succeed in all things.
If a student does not follow the classroom expectations, consequences will be administered.
Typically the consequences will occur in the following order and reset daily:
